Finger joints are shrinking from the roots to tips, in other words, it’s easy to wear on finger ring, but it’s difficult to take off due to the obstruction of the second finger joint, if you attempt to take it off by force, it’ll cause damaged blood capillary near the joint and swollen finger, making it more difficult to take off. In such case, you’d be worrisome, desperately to take it off by force, and then get a more swollen finger. Calm down to smoothen your blood circulation, which will not result in blood stasis and worse swelling. It’s wise to wait for subsidence of swollen finger before taking off the finger ring.
First, de-swelling, massage swollen part of your finger for promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis. Put your finger in cold water for minutes, to shrink local blood vessel of swell. Then, try to slowly turn the finger ring, which can be taken off in most cases if it can be turned around.
Second, put your finger in washing liquid or soap water, to fully lubricate your skin, and then slowly rotate the finger ring until across the finger joint, and then take it off. If you dislike basic lubricant, oily hand cream and olive oil are good choices.
Unless extended wearing that it’s really unable to take off from fat finger, see the doctor, which will certainly lead to eventual expensive costs for outpatient, medical treatment and jewelry repair, estimably equal to the money of having a new finger ring, so, bear in mind not to wear a finger ring for extended time!
Finger ring is a type of jewelry, main for decorative and beautifying effect. Most people are used to wearing on and not taking off, which is indeed improper. First of all, we usually contact with many chemicals in daily life, and noble metals like gold and silver from which finger ring is made will darken and discolor from reacting with elements such as sulfur in the chemical product, with resultant darkened metallic shine.
Another negligible factor is that, sweat stain, oil stain, water scale and the like deposited in inner ring groove of the finger ring will cause skin disease, so it’s advisable to take off the finger ring regularly for aeration and cleaning.
Proper method of wearing the finger ring is taking it out from jewelry box and wearing it on when outing in the morning, and put it back to jewelry box when homing in the evening, regularly soaking in clean water (distilled water) on a weekly basis, cleaning with soft hair brush, and absorbing the moist with soft cloth. In summer, if you’re sweaty, take off the jewelry and put it into the cup loading with distilled water, take it out in the next morning, absorb the wet and wear it on.
Jewelers will always try to get the rings off first the normal way. They’ll use Lotions and Windex and work the Ring off the Finger.
Sometimes they are lucky. Sometimes just working the Swollen Finger through the Loop of the Ring can cause it to slip off.
One thing you have to remember, when customers try to get their Rings off they try by pulling the ring straight off, and all that does is Bunch the Folds of your Skin together and Trap the ring even more. Jewelers do something different… They will move the Ring up the Finger a little at a Time, and in the process, Pull Parts of the Skin through the Ring. Gently working the Skin through a little at a time can really make the difference. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn’t.
Usually when it’s to the point where customers have to come into the Jewelry Store, it’s too late! It’s usually a last resort and there’s only one thing left to do…
cut it off
Yep, that’s right. You knew it was coming. Your pretty little Wedding Band will have to be Snipped in Half! Jewelers are not as Rough as Paramedics though when it comes to Ring removal. In an Emergency, Paramedics use Bolt Cutters and don’t really care about Saving the Ring.
here are two nifty tricks for how to remove a ring from a swollen finger:
Use soap and water, or any type of oil, to slip the ring off. It’s amazing how well this works.
Wrap strong string (like dental floss), ribbon-like material (like umbilical tape*), or narrow strips of duct tape around the finger to push the swelling toward the fingertip. Tuck one end of the string under the ring, and pull that end up to help you slide the ring off. If you happen to have a ring cutter*, great! I’ve never had a ring I couldn’t cut off with this.
The last option is to cut the ring off with a hacksaw, but be very, very careful.
