Finding the right earrings with a pearl necklace can be embarrassing. Not all things are paired with pearls. If you can’t find a suitable match, your jewelry will look a bit messy. The style of the pearl necklace does not determine what kind of earrings you can wear, but it will definitely have a big impact.
The most obvious beginning is the pearl earrings. Pearl stud earrings and earrings are easy to wear on formal occasions. If you want to try something different, black pearl stud earrings and rich dark tones provide a sharp contrast to the white pearl necklace.
Black pearls, known as Tahiti pearls, have never been truly black. They come with purple, green and blue tones to give your jewelry real depth and detail. If you like the sound of this earring, gold and other color pearl stud earrings will make you look exotic and different.
If you want to buy yourself a pair of pearl earrings to match your necklace, don’t forget to bring a necklace when shopping. This will help you compare the style and color of the pearl to get a good match. Unless you buy a set of jewelry or a pair of synthetics from a jeweler, you are unlikely to find the perfect match.
However, this is why pearls are so romantic and loved by retro lovers. A subtle change from one piece to another illustrates a story that makes jewelry look more expensive because the pearl looks real.
The simple mix of pearl earrings and necklaces looks very feminine and refined, but for some it may be a bit too “matching”. If the pearl necklace is a string of pearls, you may want something more interesting to make your jewelry look more modern. If you want to make yourself look simple and refined, diamond stud earrings are considered a little black dress in the jewelry world. The sparkling light contrasts perfectly with the luster of the pearl.
Elegance and sophistication are hallmarks of a timeless pearl necklace.

Understanding Pearls Necklaces
Pearls have captivated humanity for centuries with their timeless beauty and iridescent glow.
As a symbol of elegance and sophistication, pearl necklaces have become a coveted accessory in fashion.
It is essential to understand the different types, popular styles, and key factors to consider.
1. Akoya Pearls: Akoya pearls are cultivated primarily in Japan.
They are renowned for their white and cream hues.
2. Freshwater Pearls: These pearls come in various shapes and colors, including white, pink, and lavender.
They are more affordable compared to other types.
3. South Sea Pearls: Harvested from the warm waters of the South Seas, these pearls are prized for their large size and natural golden and white shades.
Popular Pearl Necklace Styles
1. Princess Length: A classic style that sits at the collarbone, the princess-length pearl necklace is versatile and suitable for formal and casual occasions.
2. Matinee Length: Falling below the collarbone and resting on the chest, matinee-length necklaces add a touch of sophistication to an outfit.
3. Opera Length: These longer necklaces, typically worn at the bust line or draped twice around the neck, exude elegance and are ideal for formal events.
Factors to Consider
1. Size: Consider the size of the pearls in your body frame and personal style preference.
2. Color: Choose a pearl necklace that complements your skin tone and desired aesthetic.
3. Luster: Look for pearls with a high luster, indicating a beautiful reflective quality.
4. Shape: Pearls come in various shapes, including round, teardrop, and baroque. Select a shape that appeals to you.
5. Quality: Assess surface blemishes, uniformity, and pearl grading to ensure you choose a high-quality necklace.
Factors to Consider When Matching Earrings and Pearl Necklaces
1. Skin Tone and Metal Color:
Consider your skin tone when selecting the metal color of your earrings.
Warm skin tones pair well with gold or rose gold, while cool skin tones are enhanced by silver or white gold.
2. Neckline and Earring Length:
The neckline of your outfit should dictate the earring length.
Opt for studs or shorter earrings for high necklines, while plunging necklines can be balanced with longer, dangling earrings.
3. Occasion and Personal Style:
Consider the occasion and your style when choosing earrings.
Delicate pearls studs are perfect for everyday elegance, while chandelier earrings make a statement for special occasions.
4. Contrast and Balance:
Aim for contrast and balance between your pearl necklace and earrings.
If your necklace is bold and chunky, opt for more delicate earrings, while a delicate necklace can be paired with more eye-catching earrings.
Consider elevating your pearl necklace ensemble with the dramatic flair of chandelier earrings, adding a touch of glamour and sophistication to your look. Chandelier earrings come in various shapes and materials, making them versatile for different styles and occasions. Opt for intricate designs with cascading gemstones or metallic elements to complement the classic elegance of your pearl necklace. The elongated silhouette of chandelier earrings creates a statement that frames your face beautifully, drawing attention to your features.
When selecting chandelier earrings to pair with your pearl necklace, consider the overall outfit and the event you’re attending. For a formal event, choose chandelier earrings with sparkling crystals or pearls to enhance your ensemble. If you’re aiming for a more casual look, opt for chandelier earrings with playful shapes or colorful beads to add a fun twist to your outfit. Experiment with different earring shapes like teardrop, geometric, or floral designs to find the perfect match for your style. Whether you prefer chandelier earrings made of gold, silver, or other materials, they’re sure to elevate your pearl necklace ensemble to new heights of elegance.
Adorn your ears with the modern edginess of ear cuffs, a stylish accessory that can complement your pearl necklace ensemble effortlessly. Ear cuffs are a trendy choice that can add a touch of sophistication to your overall look. When styling ear cuffs with a pearl necklace, consider opting for a minimalist design to avoid overpowering your outfit.
To create a balanced look, choose ear cuffs that are sleek and elegant to complement the classic beauty of a pearl necklace. For a cohesive appearance, select ear cuffs with minimal embellishments or intricate detailing that mirrors the elegance of pearls.
When wearing ear cuffs with a pearl necklace, keep your hairstyle in mind. If you’re wearing your hair up, opt for ear cuffs that make a statement without overwhelming your earlobes. Conversely, if you’re wearing your hair down, choose ear cuffs that peek out subtly for a chic and understated touch. Experiment with different styles and designs to find the perfect ear cuffs that effortlessly enhance your pearl necklace ensemble.
In the annals of history, few treasures tell as rich a story as pearls. Their luminous simplicity has been celebrated for centuries, seamlessly transcending time and civilisations. With their uncluttered elegance, pearls have adorned the necks of monarchs, the wrists of celebrities, and the ears of brides with a refined charm that speaks volumes.
Yet, it’s not just their opulence that captures our imagination, but the tales they whisper – of deep oceans, patient oysters, and nature’s serendipity. Today, as we find ourselves amidst a revival of pearl jewelry, it’s not about fleeting trends, but rather a confident re-embrace of an everlasting icon.

With their uncluttered elegance, pearls have adorned the necks of monarchs, the wrists of celebrities, and the ears of brides with a refined charm that speaks volumes.
Modern pearl jewellery predominantly showcases cultured pearls. While they too start with an irritant inside an oyster or mollusk, the process is initiated and monitored by pearl farmers. This intervention ensures more consistent shapes and sizes, making them a more accessible luxury for many.
The world of pearls is vast and varied, a testament to nature’s artistry and human ingenuity. But before we dive into the myriad ways to style these gems, it’s essential to grasp the core distinctions and types available to the discerning jewellery aficionado.
Eliciting images of divers plunging into deep seas, natural pearls are rare gems created without any human intervention. Formed when an irritant, like a grain of sand, accidentally enters an oyster, the oyster responds by layering nacre around the intruder. This organic process can take years, producing pearls that are highly sought-after, primarily due to their rarity and the romance of their creation.
The white pearl is a testament to universality in the realm of jewellery. Its serene luminescence captivates and reflects light in a way that complements every skin tone. While other gems often come with cultural or age-specific associations, the white pearl breaks these bounds. From teenagers receiving their first set of pearl studs to grandmothers passing down heirloom pearl necklaces, this gemstone’s appeal knows no boundaries, making it a cherished favourite across generations.
The allure of the white pearl is timeless. Its iridescence, purity, and simplicity have fascinated cultures across the globe, proving that some classics never fade. The beauty of the white pearl lies in its adaptability, its grace, and its ability to elevate any attire it adorns.
The monochrome palette, whether in shades of white, black, or grey, creates a canvas that allows white pearls to shine. A string of pearls against a crisp white blouse exudes an air of sophisticated purity. On the other hand, when paired with a stark black dress, the pearls stand out, providing a contrast that is both striking and elegant. The simplicity of monochrome attire ensures that the pearls remain the focal point, letting their radiance take centre stage.
The grandeur of evening gowns demands accessories that match their elegance. Here, white pearls work their magic. Whether it’s a choker with a low-neck gown or a long strand of pearls with a high-neck dress, they enhance the outfit’s elegance, making the wearer the epitome of grace.
Boho-chic outfits, with their mix of patterns and textures, welcome the charm of mismatched pearls. Layered pearl necklaces of varying lengths or combining round with baroque pearls can enhance the free-spirited vibe of bohemian attire.
The combination of pearls with gold, silver, or rose gold jewellery pieces creates a contemporary, avant-garde look. This fusion speaks to both tradition and modernity, perfect for the fashion-forward individual.
For those who prefer understated accessories, small pearl studs or a single strand bracelet can add a touch of sophistication without being overpowering.
Earrings are much more than just accessories. Mixing and matching different styles, sizes and materials enables you to be creative and add a unique touch to your personal style. Whether you choose classic pearls, dive into the world of asymmetrical earrings or go for a splash of colour, mixing and matching earrings offers endless possibilities to explore and express yourself.
So, next time you choose your earrings, don’t forget to also consider the impact a well-chosen necklace can have on your outfit. The key is to balance your accessories so that they complement your outfit rather than compete with each other.
There are many different ways to wear pearl earrings with a pearl necklace. One classic way is to wear stud earrings with a strand of pearls. This look is elegant and classic, and can be worn for any occasion. Another way to wear pearl earrings with a pearl necklace is to wear dangle earrings. Dangle earrings add a bit of fun and flair to the look, and can be worn for a more casual occasion.
What would be the best pearl necklace jewelry and earrings? I do not always wear earrings or very small stud earrings (e.g., pear). I have short hair I like bigger earrings with more drop style but the chunky beads on a chunky necklace isn’t flattering? I choose a completely different earring for each pearl, if there is one. A gold or silver stud, for example, is the same as a diamond stud. I find that matching pearl earrings to a pearl necklace appears dated. Wearing something crazy, like Aida, is not a good idea.
Silver can also be used to affix earrings, but it should not be shiny, regular, or symmetrical. Can you mix another stone? Turquoise is also nice, but I prefer opals with pearls. Take some pictures so that we can learn from you in the future. According to Deborah, she dislikes earrings and necklaces that are too close together. Her diamond stud earrings are less flashy, so she dresses them down a bit. Even though she is unlikely to wear pearl earrings with a pearl necklace, she did wear a pearl ring with it yesterday.
There are also drop earrings, a large silver ball earring, and a modern pearl drop earring in her collection. I do not enjoy the match-making style of television. I enjoy telling a story through my jewelry. Although I rarely wear necklaces because they bother my neck, when I do, I would wear a necklace and earring.
Pearls are an excellent addition to any sex outfit, and they can even add a touch of sensuality to a sex life. The piece is versatile, which means it can be worn in a variety of ways, depending on your mood and occasion. Pearls can be worn in a formal setting as part of an outfit or for a more casual event such as a night out.
Pearls can also be worn at night, which is a great advantage. As a result, if you’re feeling braver, you can wear them at night when you’re ready for some debauchery. In addition, if you prefer to be less stressed and enjoy taking things easy, you can wear them at the gym during the day.
What are you waiting for? Start having sex with a pearl necklace and it’ll only take a few minutes.
One of the biggest trends in pearl jewelry right now is layering multiple pearl pieces together. Whether it’s multiple pearl necklaces of different lengths or stacking pearl rings, layering pearl jewelry adds a unique and trendy touch to your outfit. Just be sure to keep the overall look balanced by pairing multiple pearl pieces with simpler clothing and accessories.
it’s important to consider the occasion when wearing pearl jewelry. While pearls can be dressed up or down, they are often associated with formal events such as weddings, graduations, and formal dinners. If you’re attending a more casual event, try pairing your pearl jewelry with casual clothing such as jeans and a sweater or a sundress.
In conclusion, pearl jewelry is a classic and sophisticated choice for any woman’s wardrobe. By considering the occasion, layering multiple pearl pieces, and pairing pearls with other types of jewelry, you can easily incorporate this timeless trend into your style.

I prefer jewelry that matches. However, matching antique jewelry is VERY hard. Your pearls are very classic, and I always think of pearls as a neutral that go with anything. They’re go with anything from a beautiful wedding dress to a pair of jeans. So anything you choose is going to look gorgeous.
I do agree that the pearl earrings you found are a bit pricy for imitation pearls. Here’s something you could do. Take your mom’s pearls with you and find fingernail polish that matches them as closely as possible. Then find an inexpensive pair of imitation pearl earrings that you love, but don’t worry if the pearls match because you can use the fingernail polish to make them coordinate with your mom’s necklace.
A pearl necklace is a fantastic choice if you’re wanting to make pearls the centrepiece of your look. There are different styles to choose from so you can cater to your personal style.
The traditional way to wear a pearl necklace is a string of large pearls. Today, we still love this style, however, now we prefer smaller stones that give your look a dainty and delicate feel. Pearl chokers are incredibly popular right now, and there’s a good reason why! They look amazing when worn alone, and even better when layered with silver necklaces and silver chains to really up the anti.
If a string of pearls is a bit too much for you, then why not go for a subtle pearl pendant? Pearls look amazing when paired with silver because of the cool tones that they both embody. A pendant necklace is a versatile and stylish piece that you can also wear as part of a layer.
Pearl jewelry is a timeless and classic accessory that will give your look an edge of vintage glamour that is unique to the gemstone. The beauty of pearls really does lie in its amazing versatility. Their lovely smooth lustre and complementary colour means that you can effortlessly dress them up or down to suit any occasion.

For a more contemporary twist, mix and match pearl varieties. Pairing classic white South Sea pearl earrings with black Tahitian pearls in a layered necklace creates a striking monochromatic look that exudes sophistication. The contrast in colour and size adds a modern edge to the traditional pearl ensemble, making a bold yet refined statement. To maintain a cohesive theme, ensure that the undertones of the pearls match, creating a seamless transition between the earrings and the necklace.

GENERAL RULES FOR STYLING PEARLS
Not sure where to begin when it comes to styling pearls? Here are three simple rules to follow when deciding what to wear with pearls, regardless of the occasion.
1. BUSY CLOTHING GOES BEST WITH SIMPLE JEWELLERY
Busy patterns, embellishments and heavy textures like ruffles, work best with unfussy jewellery. Otherwise, your pearls will be competing with your outfit rather than complementing it and things will look cluttered. In this case, we’d go with a simple pearl pendant or a short strand of pearls and a pair of pearl stud earrings.
2. BALANCE OUT A BOLD NECKLACE WITH DAINTY EARRINGS (AND VICE VERSA)
If you opt for a multi-strand pearl necklace, we’d recommend balancing out the look with simple earrings such as pearl studs. This offers a more understated look and ensures your jewellery doesn’t overpower your outfit. The same goes for chunky bracelets and necklaces – pick one to be the focal point.
3. MATCH YOUR NECKLACE TO YOUR NECKLINE
When deciding what to wear with your pearl necklace, this is the best rule to follow. Remember – the higher the neckline, the longer the pearls. While this isn’t a hard and fast rule, it can help you find a style for your outfit. Here are some examples:
Strapless or strappy – multi-strand chokers
Round or scoop necks – short single or double strand pearls
V-necks– chokers or short pendants
Turtlenecks or boat necks – long pearl necklaces or sweeping chains
Halter tops – skip the necklace and try bold earrings and a bracelet
If you’re wearing a pearl necklace of any sort, these are the earrings you should wear with the necklace!
Simple hoops – If you’re letting the pearl necklace do all of the work, try a pair of simple circle hoops. You can pick a metal finish that you love, because any metal finish looks great with the gorgeous hue of pearls.
Pearl earrings – Are you the matchy-matchy type? Pick out a pair of earrings that includes pearls so that everything coordinates perfectly!
Something you love – Do you have a favorite pair of earrings? Just go for it! The great thing about pairing jewelry is that it’s about your style. You make the rules!
A pearl necklace is a royal piece of jewelry that you can keep for generations to come. Not everything goes with pearls and your final look might become a little messy if you can’t find the right combination. However, you can choose amongst the different options to elevate your look and channel your inner goddess.
All pearls aren’t white, their hue ranges from pinkish to creamy white, beige tones, and even dark ones resembling the black skies. The shade of pearls can have a big role to play in determining your choice as you select earrings according to the matching shade. Also discuss with us on ear piercing to understand what types of ear jewelry you can wear.
If you wish to keep things safe, then you can pair your pearl necklace with a matching set. Usually, luxury brands launch a full range of necklaces, earrings, and rings to help complete your entire look. Despite being an easy choice, going all matchy-matchy can make your final look very formal. This is why this look is best suited for formal black-tie events.
Pearl studs are an uncomplicated wardrobe essential for any girl just like the classic strand of pearl necklace. This looks especially gorgeous on ladies when worn to work as it oozes out confidence. If you wish to try something different, then you can get pearls in an array of colors beyond the commonly seen white ones. You can provide a striking contrast to a white pearl necklace by teaming it up with black pearl studs in rich dark tones. Usually, the premium grade black pearls carry an iridescent surface sheen which can elevate your look as you wear it with an emerald-colored dress.
You can completely forget about the pearls and keep your look both simple and sophisticated with diamond stud earrings. These are perfect for adding a dash of sparkle to your look while contrasting the luster of pearls flawlessly. Remember that classic always pairs well with classic whether you go for simple diamond studs or more intricate pieces.
I’ve always thought that pearl necklaces were pretty, but just a little formal for my taste . . . until now. Turns out, there’s a new breed in town, and they’re not like your grandmother’s pearls. After everyone’s obsession with seashell jewelry last Summer, it seems like pearls are taking center stage this season. While you may think of Old Hollywood glam starlets like Grace Kelly, 2022 has unleashed a modern iteration on the timeless trend that’s been spotted on everyone from Harry Styles to Gigi Hadid. Harry could very well be the unofficial spokesman for how to rock pearl necklaces with all of the notable times he’s worn one recently
Like the new generation of stars wearing the trend, the necklace itself has gotten a modern twist. Think unique shapes and fun additions like initial letters and colorful beads added to offset the traditional feel. Brands like Timeless Pearly have been spotted on countless street style stars because of its adorable pearl initial letter necklaces. The reason these necklaces have gotten so popular is because they’re easy to style and endlessly versatile. A dainty pearl necklace is perfect to soften up a more structured look like a suit, while a colorful beaded style is just the thing to punch up your everyday outfit of a t-shirt and jeans.
Pearls can conjure a sense of sophistication and confidence making them the perfect jewelry for the workplace. You can also turn heads as you walk down the aisle toward your dream man wearing a string of pearls. Contrary to popular belief, pearls aren’t meant only for those formal and fancy occasions. You can exude the right amount of flirtiness and fun by dressing down a pearl necklace with the right set of earrings. If you thought that pearls are meant only for the high class then you are completely mistaken.

Amidst the changing seasons of fashion, pearls have remained an evergreen choice of jewelry that can elevate your style quotient irrespective of the occasion.
Dress codes for wearing pearls gradually broke down over the second half of the 20th century. However, certain style rules still stand, including for when and how to wear a pearl necklace:
Daytime: If you’re headed to the office and the dress code is at least business casual, a single strand of pearls that falls along the collarbone or a pearl bracelet is appropriate. If you’re veering away from tradition, larger pearls can make a statement. For this time of day, pearls should serve as an accent, without overpowering the rest of your outfit.
Casual: Although most don’t view pearl jewelry as casual fare, less-formal occasions are a chance to wear a longer or two-strand necklace. Also, pearl pendants, chokers, lariats and other less common pieces are better-suited to everyday wear.
Formal Wear: Black-tie occasions call for your finest jewelry. As long as the pearls match your outfit, multistrand necklaces, as well as matching earrings and bracelets, are designed for such affairs. Just make sure to coordinate your jewelry, so your ensemble doesn’t have too many visual elements.
With Other Jewelry: Unless you’re wearing a dark or bright yellow shade, pearls tend to serve as a neutral foundation. In turn, gemstones in saturated hues, like rubies or sapphires, pop against this baseline. At the same time, if you incorporate multiple stones, make sure all pieces use the same metal for consistency.
When you were younger, you may have found pearls in your mother’s jewelry box, reserved for special occasions.
It’s possible you even dreamt of wearing those prized pearl earrings or that pearl necklace on your wedding day or to a black-tie event.

It is also becoming more common for brides to wear pearls on their wedding day — even if they aren’t the ones she found as a child.
A custom pearl necklace can be a meaningful jewelry gift for a daughter or other loved one. Her eyes will light up once she opens her thoughtful gift and begins to dream about all the different ways she’ll be able to enjoy it throughout her life.
The moment your loved one opens her new gift is surely a fun and special one, but she’ll probably have even more fun wearing and styling her cultured pearl necklace, which can grow with her as her style develops and evolves over the years. It’s nice to imagine how she’ll style her pearls on her graduation day versus how she’ll style her pearls on her wedding day.
If your loved one is new to wearing jewelry, she might not be sure how to incorporate her new pearl necklace into her wardrobe. One way that you can bond with your loved one is to teach her how she can style her pearl jewelry, both for day and evening wear. Even if she’s not old enough to wear work attire, evening dresses, or date-night outfits, she’ll be able to dream about the day when she’ll be able to wear her pearl jewelry with her “big girl” clothes.
Pearl Jewelry for Daytime Wear
Some people only save their pearl jewelry for special occasions, but the truth is that most pearl jewelry can and should be worn everyday, even with an outfit as casual as a t-shirt and jeans.
If you’re not particularly daring with your fashion choices, you can always opt for a strand of pearls or a single pearl necklace, which looks good with any outfit, especially if you have a modest neckline that won’t compete with the jewelry. If you’re more of a fashionista, try playing with pearl trends like colored pearls, chunky pearls, or layered pearls. You’ll also want to consider the length of your pearl necklace. Shorter necklaces tend to be more appropriate for daytime wear, while longer necklaces feel more glamorous, beautiful when draped elegantly for special occasions. Shorter necklaces can also be layered with other necklaces from your jewelry box; layering lends itself to a more fun and casual look.
Pearl Jewelry for Evening Wear
Versatile and classic, a simple strand of pearls or a single pearl necklace can be worn during the day and also dressed up for nighttime wear. The beauty of pearls is that they can be simple when you don’t want them to compete with an elegant gown, or they can be opulent and luxurious if you’re going for a glammed-up, red carpet look.
When wearing pearls for a special occasion, you may want to consider incorporating other pearl details into your look – like pearl buttons on gloves or pearls on hair pins or other hair accessories. A pearl-embellished evening bag can also add another layer of elegance to your complete outfit. Pearl-studded shoes can be a fun and unique touch.
Once you start shopping for pearls, you’ll start to see that the style options are endless. Sometimes, pearls are combined with diamonds for extra sparkle, and the designs don’t just stop at strands. In fact, today’s pearl jewelry designers are experimenting with creations that outshine some of the most coveted couture runway gowns.
You may have never realized that there are so many ways to wear pearls, but your favorite way to wear pearls is always the best way. What’s your favorite pearl-friendly outfit? If you don’t already have a pearl necklace in your wardrobe, we encourage you to start your custom pearl necklace here.
Pearls have not always been accessible to the average woman. Throughout history, pearls have signified wealth, royalty, and power in many different cultures. They have even changed the course of history, such as when Cleopatra dissolved one of the largest pearls in the world in vinegar and drank it just to show off for Marc Antony (true story!). My favorite moment in pearl history is when First Lady Dolley Madison showed up to America’s first Inaugural Ball in 1809 dressed in a regal costume of velvet, but instead of the expected royal jewels, her crown was a turban with feathers and her necklace was a simple string of pearls. This style choice established Dolley’s persona as both a shrewd American woman who could handle the challenges of the White House and an elegant socialite worthy of the Washington elite.
“Pearls are always appropriate” is a famous saying that came from no other than the style icon Jackie Kennedy-Onassis. So, if there is a piece of jewellery that is forever trendy, classic, and never goes out of style, then, it is the pearls. With their unique look and elegance, the natural pearls are what every woman should own. For a long time, pearls have been associated particularly with women. More precisely, it was the female’s fragile beauty, personality, and femininity that made them the token of softness and elegance. The jewellery department has seen quite a lot of trend changes, but, this did not affect the pearls.
Pearl jewelry is timeless and versatile as it works both with formal attire but also with cool street outfits. If you feel somewhat reluctant in giving pearls a chance, allow us to remind you that pearl jewelry and styling have nothing to do with outdated fashion.
From lustrous pearl necklaces to eye-catching pearl chokers, we share how you can easily add that special touch to any summer outfit.
One of the easiest ways to style up a summer outfit and wear pearl jewellery is to wear a natural pearl necklace with your favourite office dress. You don’t have to opt for the classic white pearls when you head out to the jewellery store, as you have plenty of organic gems to spruce up your look. Spark your creativity and purchase pearls in pink, lavender, gold, or even black as a way to embellish a white shirt, a blazer, and even your favourite pair of strappy sandals.
A nice-looking pearl necklace will polish up your work attire and give you that refreshing summer look, regardless of whether you’re at a meeting or holding an important presentation before your team
If you’ve ever wondered how to wear a pearl necklace casually, or any piece of pearl jewelry, it can be quite easy and fun to do.Pearls can add a touch of elegance and vintage appeal to any outfit for most any occasion, or no occasion at all. Whether you are running errands, going to the office, or getting dressed for a party, pearls can upgrade your outfit in a variety of ways regardless of what style you’re going for. Having to pick out several different outfits a week for work can grow tiresome. If you’re looking for a piece of jewelry to elevate your office wardrobe, pearls are a perfect option. Timeless and easy on the eyes, pearls are easy to blend with, yet refined enough to add a dignified presence. Pearls mean business.
It can be quite awkward to find the right earrings to wear with a pearl necklace. Not everything goes with pearls and your jewelry can look a little messy if you don’t find the right combination. The style of the pearl necklace does not dictate what earrings you can wear but certainly has a large influence.
The most obvious place to start is with pearl earrings. Pearl studs and drop earrings are easy pieces to wear to formal occasions. If you want to try something a little different then black pearl studs with rich dark tones can provide a striking contrast to a white pearl necklace.
Black pearls, known as Tahitian pearls, are never truly jet black. They come with purple, green and blue hues which give real depth and detail to your jewelry. If you like the sound of this, gold and other colored pearl stud earrings will look exotic and unusual as well.
If you’re buying yourself a pair of pearl earrings to match your necklace don’t forget to bring your necklace with you when shopping. This will help you compare the style and the color of pearls to get a good match. Unless you’re buying a set from a jeweler or a synthetic pair, you’re unlikely to get a perfect match.
The point of wearing a pearl necklace casually is to look, well, casual. This purpose is defeated if you wear too much jewelry or pick pieces that just don’t suit a casual setting. Here are some guidelines to help you choose:
Remember to keep your pearl necklace on the simpler side, as this’ll look classy and relaxed rather than one that’s just too elaborate for daily wear.
Try to match the necklace to the neckline of your top or dress. There are no strict rules on this, so just go with what looks good.
For strapless or off-the-shoulder tops, long pearls that spill over them makes for a stylish, balanced look.
With crew, boat or scoop cut necklines, a choker or princess length pearl necklace can look stunning.
Another point to note is that if your top is light colored, a darker colored pearl strand will stand out clearly and provide a nice contrast in color. Conversely, if the top is dark in color, light colored pearls will match beautifully.
For pearl necklaces to look their best, it’s best to pair with a solid colored top or dress, rather than one with a busy print. This will bring the pearls out to maximum beauty.
If pearl necklaces are too much ‘pearl’ for you, then consider a pair of dangle drop pearl earrings or pearl studs to still have the sophistication of pearls with your casual outfit but to a lesser amount
Pearl jewelry has been making a comeback over the past few years. Once reserved for classic looks, pearls have been rediscovered for their versatility and sophistication. As more celebrities have been sporting pearl necklaces, these unique gemstones are being spotted outside of Hollywood as well.
Yet, not every piece of pearl jewelry is the same. While different sizes and colors offer some variation, there are certain rules recommended for wearing pearls.
Before trying the pearl trend, here’s what you should know.
If you’re headed to the office and the dress code is at least business casual, a single strand of pearls that falls along the collarbone or a pearl bracelet is appropriate. If you’re veering away from tradition, larger pearls can make a statement. For this time of day, pearls should serve as an accent, without overpowering the rest of your outfit.
Although most don’t view pearl jewelry as casual fare, less-formal occasions are a chance to wear a longer or two-strand necklace. Also, pearl pendants, lariats and other less common pieces are better-suited to everyday wear.
Black-tie occasions call for your finest jewelry.
Pearl Necklace Lengths
Pearl necklaces come in a variety of lengths, which can be ideal for specific occasions
Because of this gem’s unusual genesis, colorful history, and the rarity of natural pearls, over centuries it morphed into a mythical stone thus creating “the queen of gems” its prestige. The mention of pearls probably brings to mind the image of women attending a royal ball, wearing unflattering knee lengthed dresses. Though that’s the customary attire to accompany this precious gem, today women can go out wearing pearls for any occasion!

As the owner of the pearl, you should be very lucky. Because a string of classic Pearls is an incredible wealth for any girl’s jewelry box! There are many reasons why you can have a string of pearls. But that’s ok, because you seem to care more — you want to be known as the Princess of Fashion and not Queen Mother.
no doubt! the pearls are so cool jewelries. I don’t wear pearl on pearl but I always wear earrings, usually studs. With the first necklace I would try the big black studs or the big silver studs. I think the chunky style will compliment the pendant without being matchy matchy. But I think you need to play with your beautiful jewelry collection and the outfit you will be wearing to get the right balance.
I have the opposite, With pearls, I vote a completely different earring, if any. As in a diamond stud, a gold stud or a silver stud. I think anything else competes – unless you are Aida and can rock that look. It suits her style of dressing. Today, with my big pearl blobby necklace, and because i was already wearing a fairly noticeable ring, I didn’t wear any earrings at all. I follow that “rule” : only one big and noticeable thing, and no more than three things on at a time , choosing from a watch, glasses, ring, earrings, neckpiece. Matching pearl earrings to a pearl necklace looks really dated to me.
I think you could wear a big earring with your new necklace. With me I always go minimal/none on either earrings or necklace because my glasses are such a statement.
I agree with those who said not to wear pearl earrings with a pearl necklace. I have tried, and I even have a close match to your #11. I am happy wearing earrings in the metal that my pearl is set in.
So I would try big earrings either in black (neck cord) or silver or both. I would try for the silver to be rough hewn the way it is in your necklace–not an exact match, but not shiny or regular or symmetrical either.
Diamond or crystal studs would work too, though not sure that is your style.
I’m still learning from you, but I notice that while clothes are more matchy, the trend in jewelry remains eclectic. Therefore, I agree with those who suggest picking up the silver metal or black strand somehow–the darker pearl choice (echoing both the pearl and the black) might be genius, as is clearly silver studs. where bigger-but-airy drop hoops looked great. I do think experimenting will tell the tale. Do share pics with us so that we can continue to learn from you! when the necklace is ALL pearl and nothing else!

Well, for myself and my style, I find the matching sets can feel old fashioned, and especially so when they are distinctive looking; I don’t usually mind pearl earrings+pearl necklace, but I do prefer a difference in size/color with that one. The link Carole posted has some great examples of sets that are similar in tone/style but don’t match exactly.
I wear earrings daily, usually 2 pair: diamond studs that I rarely change out, and large silver hoops 80% of the time/other fun earrings 20% of the time; I wear necklaces/scarves maybe half the time. I have no problem pairing earrings with necklaces/scarves, but I do adjust the size of my earrings depending on what’s going on at my neckline. Since I don’t like my earrings/necklaces to look like they came from a set, when I’m not wearing the hoops I either mix the metals or pick something that has a similar metal but different style.
Examples: Necklace with lots of hammered metal bits paired with classic pearl studs. Necklace with oiled bronze chains and colored natural stones paired with silver dangly earrings. Gold chain with gold charm paired with bronze pyramid stud earrings. Silver charm pendant paired with chunky turquoise droplet earrings. Silver hoops with any and everything
EDIT: I do like to match my shoes and purse. I think it’s really a matter of selecting when you want to match.

Of all the ways to wear pearls, nothing has stood the test of time more than the pearl necklace. They don’t ever go out of fashion and most woman will own at least one pearl necklace in their lifetime.
A pearl necklace can be a tricky one to wear especially in your everyday wardrobe so let’s debunk the rules for wearing a pearl necklace.
When you hear “pearl necklace” what usually springs to mind is a classic pearl strand. These can look a little traditional but the pearl necklace is more varied than you realize. There are so many ways to rethink the pearl necklace. You can play around with pearl colors, lengths and style to find a necklace that’s going to elevate your look.
I want to share some experience :
1) Keep it classic. One item of pearl jewelry to wear to work is usually enough. While putting on a pearl jewelry set consisting of a necklace, bracelet, and earrings are great for evening wear, it might be over the top for a day at the office.
Simple is best. An opera length pearl necklace, chunky bracelet, or ostentatious earrings might get in your way or distract your colleagues and customers while you do your work.
2) Choose simple, classic pearl jewelry to accessorize your outfit.
Safety first. In certain professions such as a medical practice, a school, or if you work with dangerous equipment, wearing pearl jewelry on your arms or around your neck might be against the company policy or inappropriate because of hygiene requisites and the type of duties you carry out. If you’re unsure, first check with your colleagues to find out how best to wear your pearls.
3) Keep it comfortable. Like shoes that are too tight, earrings that hurt your ears or too much pearl jewelry that get in the way can become uncomfortable during a long day at work. Always keep your day’s activities in mind when you dress in the morning.
The amount of pearl jewelry you can wear to work depends on your work circumstances. What kind of image do you want to project, what is your job type, and does your company prescribe a dress code that includes jewelry? Whatever your working environment, there are surely pearls suitable to brighten up your outfit.
Wearing pearl jewelry appropriately will help you to look sophisticated and fashionable at work. Don’t think that pearls are old-fashioned and conservative. Wearing pearls can add joy to your day and make you look forward to dressing up for work. A woman of any age can create a contemporary look for her work attire with real pearl jewelry.
